Julia R. Henly, an Associate Professor in the School of Social Service Administration studies the intersection of family poverty, low-wage employment, and public policy, especially child care and family policy. She is interested in families' economic and caregiving strategies, with particular attention to how work conditions, public policies, and social networks operate to support and complicate parenting, poverty management and economic mobility.

Heather Sandstrom, Ph.D. is a senior research associate in the Center on Labor, Human Services, and Population at the Urban Institute. Her research focuses on early childhood education and development, school readiness, child care quality, the home learning environment, and programs and policies affecting low-income children and families, such as child care subsidies, Head Start, and home visiting.
